About Josuma Coffee Company

Josuma Coffee Company, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, was established in 1992 to act as a bridge between India's coffee-growing community and the coffee-consuming markets of North America.

We import green coffees under the trade name Josuma Select®, for distribution to brokers, wholesale roasters, and roaster/retailers in the U.S. and Canada. These coffees include premium washed Arabica, some of the world's highest-quality Robusta, and India-exclusive monsooned coffees. We also offer a green, ready-to-roast proprietary espresso blend called Malabar Gold®.

We do not import any commercial-grade coffees.

Josuma also roasts many of the coffees it imports and sells them to high-end coffee retailers and espresso bars. Our flagship coffee is the roasted version of Malabar Gold, a light-roasted, Northern Italian-style, low-acid blend that produces a full, mellow espresso with ample body and rich, velvety crema. Our other roasted coffees include Monsoon Medley®, the lowest-acid coffee in the world, and Mysore Mystic®, a medium-acid, single-estate coffee with spicy overtones.

Josuma Coffee Company is a privately owned family operation run by Joseph and Urmila John, a husband and wife team with excellent connections among prominent Indian coffee growers, along with considerable business experience in the United States. Joseph John holds a doctorate in nuclear physics and an MBA. He functions as president of the company and its resident coffee expert, as well as acting as the public face of Josuma. Urmila John, who has a bachelor's degree in economics, a master's in political science, and an MBA, manages the internal operations.
